It is a turning point very few companies ever reach. Since 1932, we have been an ally in economic development, moving millions of passengers and transporting tons of goods and products that prop up trade and commerce. It was humbling to confront the challenges that shook our very foundation. You witnessed the corrective changes and sacrifices we underwent to redirect the company. And like any other company undergoing change, we had our share of frustrations but we nevertheless pressed forward, united by our resolve to thrive in order to continue to serve the nation and provide livelihood to our employees and partners. Now that we have hurdled the difficulties and brought ourselves back into profitability, we extend our deepest gratitude to the real lifeblood of the company, our loyal passengers and shippers. They are our inspiration in the quest to constantly reinvent the way we do business and make our services more responsive. Now more than ever, we are better prepared to handle even the most stringent requirements of our customers. We have shifted to a business model more attuned to customers’ expectations. A business soundly backed-up by customer driven technology and resources both in the backroom and frontline. As a result, we have become a carrier of choice and a more pleasant company to deal with. As we celebrate our diamond year anniversary, it is fitting to credit selfless and tireless people who helped us reach this milestone. We realize and acknowledge that the sacrifice was bravely borne across the organization; from our porters, vessel officers and crew down to the frontliners and office personnel. Each one deserves a salute of recognition. To these committed men and women, I dedicate this vision of the Negros Navigation management team. By cultivating a dedicated workforce, the company will provide efficient and on time services to shippers and passengers, regarding them not as mere clients but as the company’s reason for existence. We will continue to champion employee welfare because the company believes that its greatest asset is neither its fleet nor properties but its people. We will not forget that it was the people in the organization who turned the company around. Countryside Renewal Negros Navigation will continue to spur trade and commerce by becoming an effective conveyor of products. We will provide an alternative transport medium and become a complete logistics partner to small and medium sized businesses, especially in the countryside. Championing Tourism Because tourism yields jobs, Negros Navigation will partner with government and the tourism industry by expanding its market reach. We will open additional ports of call in many parts of Visayas and Mindanao. As what we have consistently done in the past, we will help market less developed tourist destinations and make it a vacation alternative for both foreign and local tourists. Training Seafarers We will become a training ground for world-class seafarers by creating a focused learning institution that is able to offer more comprehensive training programs. We will equip these trainees with appropriate technical knowledge and sufficient experience in facing the increasingly sophisticated world of seamanship. Corporate Responsibility Cognizant of its social responsibilities, Negros Navigation will continue to involve itself in advocacy programs focusing on children, livelihood and the environment. Commitment to Partners Negros Navigation will look at corporate rehabilitation as an opportunity to renew its commitment to partners and suppliers, aware that its development is hinged on integrity and faithfulness. Bolstered by the strength of partnerships, we will synergize with key players of the domestic shipping industry to provide a more responsive and efficient services abreast with the times. Going Global We will form alliances with international players and try to penetrate the region. We envision a Negros Navigation that services both passage and freight clients in key areas of Southeast Asia. As we celebrate 75 years, we beseech your unfaltering commitment to translate the vision to reality.
