NEGROS NAVIGATION MARKS 75 YEARS (May 2, 2007) Negros Navigation CEO and president Sulficio Tagud Jr. announced that the landmark shipping company will turn 75 in July. While a number of activities are being lined up to thank its benefactors and clients through the years, the new management at the inter-island company has outlined a novel thrust for the company through its six Cs. The new thrusts were released to the public today to mark the start of celebrations. The key points in the new company vision are Countryside Renewal, Championing Tourism, Cultivating Seafarers, Corporate Responsibility, Commitment to Partners and Charting a Global Course. Negros Navigation will continue to spur trade and commerce by providing an alternative transport medium and becoming a complete logistics partner to small and medium sized businesses, especially in the countryside, Tagud says. Because tourism yields jobs, Negros Navigation will partner with government and the tourism industry by expanding its market reach and by opening additional ports of call in select parts of Visayas and Mindanao. The company will become a training ground for world-class seafarers by creating a focused learning institution. It will equip these trainees with appropriate technical knowledge and sufficient experience in facing the increasingly sophisticated world of seamanship, Tagud continues. Aware of its social responsibilities, Negros Navigation will continue to involve itself in advocacy programs focusing on children, livelihood and the environment. Bolstered by the strength of partnerships, the company till synergize with critical players and provide more responsive and efficient services abreast with the times.
