Negros Navigation Co., Inc. ( Nenaco ) is one of the oldest domestic shipping companies in the Philippines.

It was organized and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) on 26 July 1932 for the purpose of transporting passengers and cargo at various ports of call in the Philippines. For the past decades, Nenaco led the domestic shipping industry in pioneering programs focused on continuously elevating the quality of shipping services to world class standards.

In the 60’s Nenaco was the first among the domestic shipping companies to operate brand new, fast and luxurious air conditioned passenger ships. In 70’s , it was first to construct and operate a modern passenger terminal in Manila’s North Harbor and likewise pioneered in offering special cruises to the Philippine tourist spots using its coastwise vessels. In the 80’s , Nenaco launched its containerization program and ushered a new industry trend on the use of Roll-on Roll-off (“RORO”) vessels.

In the 90’s, it became the first Philippine shipping company to be listed in the stock exchange. Proceeds the amounting to P916.86 million from Initial Public Offering (IPO) were utilized to support the “Globalization Program” of the company that involved fleet expansion and service modernization.

The company has an excellent record in rendering personalized service and maintaining ferry cleanliness. It was the first to build and operate a modern passenger terminal in Manila’s North harbor and is committed to be the leading force in the safe transport of people and cargo throughout the archipelago. Today, the company is known for providing the safest, most economical and most enjoyable means of sea travel.


SERVICE EXCELLENCE THROUGH INNOVATION

Aside from Nenaco’s own brand of service and passenger-friendly amenities, the company prides itself of its “Dancing Porters”. The first of its kind in the shipping industry, these porters do not just carry the passengers’ baggage but also provides entertainment to departing or arriving passengers with their specially-choreographed dance numbers. Today, Nenaco prides itself for being the “Home of the Dancing Porters”, the first of its kind in inter-island sea travel. Nenaco likewise launched its “Gets Namin ang trip mo!” campaign which aims at providing unadulterated entertainment to travelling passengers. Vessels now have entertainment teams that implement bingo, parlor games and videoke contests. The team also holds regular comedy and variety shows onboard.

Embodying its commitment to be responsive to its expanding clientele, Nenaco enhanced its passenger service by introducing StarNet, a passenger reservation and ticketing system that supports and monitors the operations of its ticket offices. This service platform was utilized to broaden the company’s partnership with its primary agents the operators of Nenaco’s principal ticketing offices.

Passenger comfort, convenience and amusement aboard Nenaco’s vessels have been among the key attractions for the increasing customer patronage enjoyed by the company. The diversity of cuisine and friendly ambience enhances the positive experience of passengers aboard Nenaco ships. Navigated by competent and seasoned officers and crew, the welfare and safety of passengers are paramount in Nenaco’s list of priorities.

The company currently serves major destinations like Iloilo, Bacolod, Dumaguete (via Bacolod), Boracay, Roxas, Manila, Coron, Dipolog and Palawan.

Nenaco likewise serves key destinations in Mindanao through its hubs:

Cagayan de Oro - gateway to Bukidnon, Valencia, Maramag, Quezon, Wao (via Malaybalay), Kibawe, Kabacan and Carmen (North Cotabato), Koronadal (via Tacurong), Davao (via Buda), Gingoog, Butuan and Surigao.

Dipolog – gateway to Sindangan, Liloy, Ipil, Gatulac (via Liloy) Zamboanga City

Iligan - gateway to Marawi and Cotabato City

Ozamiz – gateway to Pagadian, Molave and Duminag
